Navigated implanation with drilling templates
Positioning an implant into the jaw bone requires most detailed planning and design. Not only does modern implantology acquire this knowledge through common 2 dimensional x-ray images, but also by the help of threediemnsional computer-aided design and diagnostics.
For this purpose, we have designed special templates, that are designed and crafted individually for every patient in order to have the exact angle for the drilling to take place and furthermore to diminuish operating time.
3D implant-design
At first, threediemnsional computer images are divided into numerous 2dimensional x-ray layers. During this process, the patient is wearing a special template in his mouth, which transports the required lines for planning onto the x-ray image. This data is then read into the computer, which turns them into a threedimensional reflection of the tooth and jaw situation. By the help of this detailed image, the position, depth and angle of the implant can be defined most precisely. Moreover, the dentist gets valuable information about bonal structures and its quality as where and how the nerves run through the upper and lower jaw. The danger of damaging collaterally the neighboured teeth, tooth roots or cavity during the implantation process is thereby diminuished. This is due to the prior knowledge of the anatomic structures in the mouth.
